Edmonton had back out on the road having won three consecutive games to force Game 7 in the Stanley Cup Finals.
The Oilers dug themselves a huge hole as they lost the first three games, 3-0 and 4-1 on the road and 4-3 at home, but they have responded in impressive fashion.
They finally got off the mark as they stormed to an 8-1 win over the Panthers, and backed that up with 5-3 and 5-1 wins to set up this winner-takes-all meeting in Florida.
Edmonton booked their place in the Stanley Cup Finals by eliminating Los Angeles, Vancouver and Dallas from the postseason.
The Oilers split the first two games of the series with Los Angeles, but took over from there as they recorded 6-1, 1-0 and 4-0 victories to win the series 4-1.
Their streak was ended during a back-and-forth series with Vancouver that saw the two teams split the first six games for set up Game 7.
Edmonton held their nerve though, booking their place in the Western Conference Finals with a 5-1 victory.
The Oilers went 2-1 down in the series with Dallas, but came roaring back with 5-2, 3-1 and 2-1 wins to seal their place in the Stanley Cup Finals.
Florida Panthers Form
Florida are on the ropes in the Stanley Cup Finals, having blown a 3-0 series lead with three consecutive defeats.
The Panthers raced out to a 3-0 lead with 3-0, 4-1 and 4-3 victories, but they have failed to take three different opportunities to put away the Oilers.
They were beaten 8-1 on the road in Game 4, 5-3 at home in Game 5, and then suffered a 5-1 road defeat in Game 6, setting up this massive Game 7 showdown.
Florida booked their place in the Stanley Cup Finals by beating Tampa Bay, Boston and the New York Rangers in the playoffs.
The Panthers won the first three games of their series with Tampa Bay, before rebounding from a 6-3 loss with a series-clinching 6-1 win over the Lightning.
They then responded to a 5-1 defeat to Boston with 6-1, 6-2 and 3-2 wins, before bouncing back from a 2-1 loss with a 2-1 victory on the road that wrapped up the series.
That set up an Eastern Conference Finals showdown with the New York Rangers, and they fell behind early as they lost two of the first three games.
Florida fought their way back though, reeling off 3-2 (OT), 3-2 and 2-1 victories to seal their place in the Stanley Cup Finals.
