The Seminoles won their first four games, but then lost three straight as the level of opposition improved.
They lost 31-21 to #22 Wake Forest and 34-29 to #4 Clemson either side of a 19-17 defeat at #14 NC State.
Florida State did not lose again after that defeat to Clemson though, reeling off five straight wins as their offense ran riot.
The Seminoles snapped their skid with a 41-16 win against Georgia Tech and then followed it up with a 45-3 blowout of rivals Miami (FL).
They then beat Syracuse 38-3 on the road before returning home to beat Louisiana 49-17 and Florida 45-38.
Oklahoma Form
Oklahoma finished the 2022 regular season with an underwhelming 6-6 record.
The Sooners started the campaign in the top 10 and stayed there as they won their first three games.
Their stock slumped from there though, as they lost six of their remaining nine games on the schedule.
They suffered an embarrassing 49-0 shutout loss to Texas during this sequence, although they did knock off a couple of ranked teams.
Oklahoma beat #19 Kansas 52-42 at home in October, and #24 Oklahoma State 28-13 a month later.
However, the Sooners’ regular season campaign ended on a downer with a 51-38 loss at Texas Tech – their third defeat in four games.
