The Bruins opened the season with six consecutive wins – a streak that included victories against ranked opponents.
They beat #15 Washington 40-32 at home, and a week later they knocked off #11 Utah, 42-32.
UCLA’s streak was halted by a 45-30 loss at #10 Oregon a week later, but they rebounded over the next couple of weeks to beat Stanford 38-13 and Arizona State 50-36.
They lost their next two games though, ending their hopes of a conference championship appearance.
The Bruins were beaten 34-28 at home by Arizona, and then came up short in a 48-45 shootout with #7 USC.
They at least ended the regular season on a positive note though, winning 35-28 at California last time out.
Pitt Form
Pitt endured a disappointing regular season as they finished 8-4, but they did finish on a four-game win streak.
The Panthers started the season ranked #17, but lost two of their first five games to slide out of the top 25.
While one of those defeats was a 34-27 loss to a talented Tennessee team, the other was a 26-21 loss at home to unranked Georgia Tech.
Pitt then ended October with back-to-back losses, losing 24-10 at Louisville and 42-24 at #21 North Carolina.
They have not lost since that defeat to the Tar Heels though.
The Panthers rebounded to knock off #22 Syracuse 19-9, and then backed that up with a 37-7 victory at Virginia and a 28-26 home win against Duke.
Pitt then concluded the regular season with a 42-16 blowout of Miami (FL) that saw them give up most of those points in garbage time.
