The Golden Bears faced no less than five ranked teams in a tough Pac-12 schedule this year, and all five of those games ended in defeats where they gave up a ton of points.
They were beaten 59-32 at #8 Washington, and after bouncing back with a win over Arizona State, they lost four straight games, all against top-25 teams.
California were beaten 52-40 by #15 Oregon State, 34-14 at #16 Utah, 50-49 by #24 USC and 63-19 at #6 Oregon.
The Golden Bears stopped that losing sequence with a 42-39 win over Washington State, and built on that before the end of the season with a 27-15 win at Stanford and a 33-7 victory at UCLA.
Texas Tech Form
Texas Tech come into this matchup on the back of a blowout loss that left them with a 6-6 regular-season record.
The Red Raiders struggled early on as they lost three of their first four games, but they were able to get back to .500 in early October thanks to a 49-28 win over Houston and a 39-14 victory at Baylor.
They then lost their next two games, 38-21 to Kansas State and 27-14 at BYU, but did respond with a three-game win streak that included a victory over a ranked team.
Having beaten TCU the week before, Texas Tech recorded their biggest win of the season on November 11 as they beat #19 Kansas, 16-13.
The Red Raiders ended the season on the back of a defeat though, as they were blown out 57-7 at #7 Texas.
