Missouri finished the regular season in the top 10 in the rankings after compiling a 10-2 record.
The Tigers started the campaign unranked, but a five-game win streak that included a 30-27 upset of #15 Kansas State propelled them into the top 25.
Their perfect start was halted in early October when they suffered 49-39 defeat to #23 LSU that dropped them out of the rankings.
However, Missouri bounced back a week later with a 38-21 win at #24 Kentucky that quickly put them back among the best teams in the country.
The Tigers suffered their second defeat of the season on November 4, as they were beaten 30-21 at #1 Georgia.
They rebounded impressively though, blowing out #14 Tennessee 36-7 to start a three-game win streak to end the regular season.
Ohio State Form
Ohio State went 11-1 in the regular season, with that one defeat ultimately costing them a place in the College Football Playoffs.
The Buckeyes opened the season with a string of blowout wins, before staging a late comeback to snatch a 17-14 victory at #9 Notre Dame.
From there they embarked on a seven-game win streak in conference play that included a 20-12 victory over #7 Penn State.
They followed that up with two more wins on the road, beating Wisconsin 24-10 and Rutgers 35-16, before returning home to take their record to 11-0.
Ohio State warmed up for the huge showdown with Michigan by dominating Michigan State and Minnesota in 38-3 and 37-3 wins.
However, those victories were all for naught as the Buckeyes were beaten 30-24 by their bitter rivals, ending their chances of winning the national championship.
Verdict
Ohio State have lost their QB and there is the potential for several holdouts here.
The Buckeyes have good depth though, and the spread is small, so we are going to stick with the favorites here.
