UTSA overcame a rough start to the season by embarking on a seven-game win streak that helped them to an 8-4 record.
The Roadrunners lost three of their first four games, with one of those defeats being a 45-14 blowout loss at #23 Tennessee.
They kick-started their campaign in early October though, starting with a 49-34 victory at Temple in their conference opener.
UTSA began stacking up wins after that, with the offense firing on all cylinders, and their streak hit seven games with they beat South Florida 49-21 at home.
The Roadrunners failed to make it eight wins in a row though, falling to a 29-16 defeat when they visited #18 Tulane in their regular season finale.
Marshall Form
Marshall come into this game on the back of a win, but they struggled for much of the season as they finished 6-6.
The Thundering Herd raced out of the blocks by winning each of their first four games, but their form nose-dived in October.
They started the month with a 48-41 defeat at NC State, and that loss proved to be the start of a five-game skid that saw them fail to score more than nine points in three of them.
Marshall finally stopped the rot in early November as they beat Georgia Southern, 38-33, but a week later they were shut out in a 28-0 defeat at South Alabama.
The Thundering Herd did wrap up the regular season with a win though, bouncing back a week later to down Arkansas State 35-21.
