Washington vs Texas Preview & Picks

Texas are tipped to cover as they advance to the National Championship Game.

The Longhorns offense has been sensational and can to set a scoring pace that Washington cannot keep up with.

  • Texas are 3-0-0 ATS in their last 3 games
  • Washington are 3-6-0 ATS in their last 9 games
  • 4 of Washington’s last 6 games have produced over 64.0 total points
  • The Over has cashed in 4 of Texas’ 5 games against ranked teams

Head To Head

  • Texas lead the all-time series 3-2
  • Washington won 27-20 when the two teams last met in December 2022

Washington Form

Washington earned their place in the College Football Playoffs with a 13-0 record and a Pac-12 Championship success.

The Huskies raced out of the blocks with three blowout wins against non-conference teams, and they did not slow down when the Pac-12 schedule began.

They won their first two conference games to set up a huge meeting with #8 Oregon in October that proved to be a dress rehearsal for the championship game.

Washington won that matchup 36-33, and backed it up with six more wins that included three victories over ranked teams.

The Huskies outlasted #24 USC 52-42, beat #13 Utah 35-28, and then downed #10 Oregon State on rivalry weekend, 222-20.

All of this earned them a place in Pac-12 Championship Game, and they got the better of #5 Oregon for a second time, this time winning 34-31.

Texas Form

Texas overcame a regular season loss to finish 11-1, win the Big 12 Championship and snatch a place in the College Football Playoffs.

The Longhorns made a statement in the second week of the season as they stunned #3 Alabama on the road, 34-24.

They backed that up by beating #24 Kansas, 40-14, to take a perfect 5-0 record into an October showdown with #12 Oklahoma.

Texas lost that game, 34-30, but put that disappointment behind them to go on a run that ultimately earned them a shot at the national crown.

The Longhorns won their final six regular season games, including a 33-30 victory over #25 Kansas State, and that set up a Big 12 Championship showdown with Oklahoma State.

A win never appeared to be in doubt as they put up 21 first-quarter points on their way to a 49-21 victory.

Verdict

This is a mouth-watering matchup between two good teams with two good quarterbacks, but we find ourselves leaning towards Texas.

QB Quinn Ewers and that offense has been hanging points on ranked teams all season long, and they were simply unstoppable during their last couple of games.
